Don't get me wrong, Sid's is great. But he doesn't do true bespoke, as I understand it. The way it was explained to me at his shop, it's more of a made to measure process than bespoke.

It's a cool shop and I stopped by every other time I found myself in the ATL. Not that there are a lot of other options for how to kill an afternoon there.

I just can't help but smirk at the myth of Mashburn.

The guy has done a brilliant job with PR and marketing his story and image. He can always be counted on for excellent sound bites in interviews. Whether you like his personal style or not, the guy has made it attainable and easy to understand.

I've always wondered how they settled on Stockholm as a location to visit but it's obviously working for them.

Speaking of Sid Mashburn...

It may be a bit hyped, BUT it is by far the most original shop in Atlanta. I think the store has a Barneys New York vibe to it. Not stuffy or pretentious, just interesting and fun.
I bought my first suit from him a year ago under his house brand label ($1,000). It is canvassed and good quality, but don't expect Isaia type finishing. The style is similar to what you see in Napoli.
I think he is getting better, actually.
NM is Atlanta is great for the big brands and Ralph Lauren is superb. You can also find a few shops that cater to the quality focused conservative business type.

You won't find hate for either one from me. Atlanta had become my adopted almost home, and Sid is probably the best we've got locally. I love the shop, I just wish there were some more options more readily available in the city.

Neither Mina nor Dino have ever claimed to be tailors ....There are plenty of people who are not technically trained as tailors, but still run respectable bespoke houses. Mariano Rubinacci and Richard James most easily come to mind. But that doesn't mean these people aren't valuable.

.... Mina especially walks a nice line between being firm enough about how she thinks something should look, and being flexible enough to make sure the client is happy ....

I agree with all of this. Mina once - in the most polite way possible - told me to shut up and let her do her thing. She was right.

I think she can tailor clothing based on some of our discussions, but I don't think she does, and that's not what you're paying her for. She's got a good eye (complaints about shoulders notwithstanding) and a nice take on classic Neapolitan style - that's what you're paying for.

... and most importantly denounce the repulsive and childish epithet that you invented: "pa-fucked".

Mafoo may have coined it, but I'm taking credit for making it an SF-meme. Finally, a legacy I can be proud of.
