I get probably 10 hours a week, but that is generally b/c I put the tv to one of the radio channels and listen to music while I do my homework. Time spent actually watching tv is probably 1-2 hrs a week.

Not individually no, but if you combine viewing of say 3 people on the same TV over the course of a week...then it becomes a different equation.

As well, for the money spent isn't it better to watch a 2 hour movie the best way possible?

Jon.

That's about what I am. I picked 4 hours for the netflix devotees, figuring some guys had more time on their hands and could watch a couple movies a week. I can't imagine spending so much time and money learning about and constructing a 'system' just to watch a movie every couple of months. But hey, different strokes. My dad has the golf channel on everytime we go over, and there're guys at work who tivo/dvr(?) something every day. Me, I've got thousands of $$$ worth of fishing equipment sitting in the closet that sees the light of day a couple of times a year. I guess if you're going to put the time, effort and money into something you might as well enjoy it....

Have you updated your firmware yet?

Yeah, it's kind of annoying and no I haven't updated it yet.

I don't watch much TV to speak of, but I do watch a lot of movies and have been playing a fair amount of video games with my new equipment. I've got like 250 DVDs and use Netflix religiously, so a big TV is almost necessary to get the full value out of my collection.

The firmware update doesn't really speed it up. I think it fixed a couple of bugs.

Jeez dude, I'm pretty sure I spend more than 4 hours a DAY in front of the "toob". Though there are no actual tubes involved. Consider the fact that on an average weekday, I watch one movie, and on the weekend I like to watch... oh... between five and seven... I watch at least one full football game a week I watch Heroes (when it's on), Jeopardy, and the news at least once a week. I play about... 3 hours of video games a week Not to mention the fact that one of my "Televisions" is actually a computer. The computer that I spend most of my time on.

That being said, I like your TV.

I agree on that. I will add 5.1 or 3.1 soon; the wife is making drapes, dimmable lighting is being ordered, and the HT seating will improve over time. Just takes cash.

The books have not been moved in as we are still finalizing the bookcases. Costco has some very nice ones although not modern enough for Matt's taste for sure. I'm still looking however. A new Design Within Reach store opened up in Atlanta and I'm curious to see what they have.
