I looked up what some people on AVS Forums were using as presets for the model I have and then did a little final tweaking myself. Definitely a big improvement from the factory settings.

Same here. Quite an improvement.

We had a local ISF calibration expert in Atlanta but he died in a plane crash sadly.

I would like to get ISF calibrated but sadly I'm just a college student who broke the bank with this purchase already...

Artisan Fan, personally, I'm not the "bright, airy, loveseat/couch, non-surround" type of home theater guy.

I want reclining theater style seating, velvet drapes, 5.1 surround, remote dimmable lighting, and acoustic foam.

That being said, I like your TV.

Me, I'm worried about terrestrial RF interference.

Wait, didn't you already post a setup with speakers and everything before? Or who was that? I dunno man, this just looks like a family room to me. You at least need some speakers and some way to darken the room during daytime.

That's basically what I did. I really don't see the need for a professional calibration. It's just not worth the $$$ for me. Plus I've tweaked enough with the settings to create what is in my eyes a satisfactory image / color quality.

It's the monetary aspect of it. Let's say you spend $8000 on a home system (including TV, DVD player, cables, and speaker system), it's worth it to make sure that you are getting the most of the $8000 sunk cost.

Personally, I didn't go through a professional to calibrate my TV or set up the connections...but if you don't know what you are doing, or want to make sure everything is as good as possible, it's highly worth it, IMHO.
