Pics to demonstrate:

The fit is great, other than this. It's especially annoying when wearing a belt. Is this something a tailor could fix? Is this something I could fix?

Maybe sagging them a little bit would eliminate the ass horn? They seem like they are hiked up pretty high on you. Also, it may not be a problem once they soften up.

i think that happens because the back pockets are stiff and instead of creasing when they should, the entire ass rides up like that. I think it will go away over time. My somets have the same problem so I always wear a longer shirt. Hopefully when they get beaten up a bit , it will stop.

I think it has to do a lot with the shape of your ass and the fact that the horizontal seam there, i guess that's the yoke? I dunno terminology, does not fall as easy as the rest of the fabric.

When the seat stretches out a bit, that should go away.

Yeah, the problem does seem to be that seam. Another pair of jeans with very similar construction doesn't have a horn, and the only real difference I can see is that the seam is more pliable in the other pair.

These've had a month of daily wear, so I'm not counting on the horn to go away naturally anymore. Would it be a terrible idea if I tried to hide the excess material with a safety pin or something?

TBH I really don't see why a tailor couldn't take up that excess from above that seam.

I don't think I'd use a safety pin, you might damage something when you sit and stress it.
