Recently I bought a number of decent quality shirts (RLBL, Gucci etc.) Not black tie material but I wear them with a suit, no tie. I was wondering if I have to take them to the drycleaners after wearing them a few days, just to get the sweat out?

Can I just wash them on gentle in a washing machine in cold water and than airdry? Or should I wash them by hand in cold water. I just want them to last long enough to at least create the illusion of being worth it and keep the colors bright and the collar firm.

I wash all my shirts at home and have never had any problems, and I've been wearing some of them since high school, 18 years ago.

One thing that I always do, however, is to get "washing bags" or "laundry bags" (basically a fine mesh bag with a zip at the top) that cost about $1 each from discount stores, and I put a shirt in each bag before putting them into the washing machine. I find that it helps to keep the shirts from getting tangled up.

you need to wash them after each wearing. not after several wearings.

lot so of good advice above.
