Is it a faux pas to wear a grosgrain cummerbund and tie when you have satin lapels?

Definite faux pas. The cummerbund and bow tie will have to match with the tuxedo's / DJ's lapel. I believe The Black Tie Guide has already highlighted this.

Mixing silk textures doesn't bother me. But then, neither do pocket flaps.

If I ever bespeak a DJ I will get a tie made from the lapel silk, just because it seems a shame to pass up the opportunity.

If your internet name is fcuknu I think you can do what you want, even paisley.

Amongst the sartorial sins one sees with black tie, this one is definitely venial, rather than mortal.

Having a tie made from the exact same material as your lapels seems a bit mitchy-matchy to me.

Relax...if you're wearing your dinner jacket it's a party.

Have a drink. Spill something on your patent leather shoes and get over it.
