Missoni shirts

I was wondering what do learned members of this forum think about Missoni shirts? They are apparently made in Italy, retail for about $95 and can be had in outlet stores and eBay for about ~$50. In my opinion, their fabrics, construction and buttons look good for a $50 shirt. I don't think this brand has been discussed before in StyleForum so I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Edit: I think I found their website http://www.missoni.it/eng/index.html. Apparently they have a store at 1009 Madison Avenue NY. If they really do retail at $95, they'e got to be the cheapest Italian-made shirts around.

I can only go from what I've seen.

First, I like their fabrics. They are usually in pretty cool patterns -- not super creative, but nice takes on conservative patterns -- and are in above average fabrics. Their buttons are thick plastic, which for what they are are pretty good. They'd probably trick most people into thinking that they are pearl, but they aren't.

What got me was the sizing. For an Italian-made shirt out of what I thought was a designer house, their shirts are cut really big. Definitely not slim fitting at all. Perhaps they make a slimmer cut shirt for the Italian market? In any event, if you are looking on Ebay for these make sure to ask for a chest measurement or something.

All the tailored clothing and shirting M Missoni is outsourced, and not particularly well designed or constructed. The ties bear somewhat more resemblance to the very distinctive knits (not really my thing, though the scarves make nice gifts for both the hippie and high society girl in your life), which are the house's real strengths. The shirts and suits are nothing special, sort of like Christian Dior "Monsieur", something generic hanging on to a recognizable name.
