Men’s High Fashion/Formal/Semi-Formal Style Advice

I am considering purchasing a men’s Balmain black Jersey Belted Double Breasted Long Jacket just because I love the elegance of its style. Here is the link to it:

What opinion do the experts hold regarding whether this jacket is designed to be worn as a suit coat, a sport coat, or a cold weather overcoat? 😬
It seems to me it might be any of those scenarios but more likely the first two?

To me it looks like a smoking jacket intended as indoor loungewear, not a topcoat or overcoat. I wouldn't wear this over a suit or professional attire.

Maybe a double-breasted topcoat would fit the bill (a topcoat being lighter than an overcoat, more appropriate for the Texas climate).

I second rjc149's comment. This appears to be more of a lounge jacket.
