Thinking about getting this navy blue cashmere peacoat from Dior. Super soft and warm. Would need to get some tailoring of the sleeves and maybe taken in a touch. Thoughts?

The wool does look to me more sweater-like than the versions on the BR site. I've seen Billy Reid experiment with different colors and textures over the years. I remember a tweed production sample of the peacoat. I rather liked it and would have purchased it had it been my size. The wool used for Mr Porter does look to be almost heathered in color, and the fit is more "slouchy." Good eye regarding the dimensions. I've compared the dimensions listed on Mr. Porter and Billy Reid, and the coat on Mr. Porter has narrower shoulders but a much larger chest for a given size. It does look odd because of it. And for only an additional hundred dollars. Definitely a pass.

Has anyone actually tried on the new Bond peacoat and/or been able to compare the "older" ones with the later ones? On the BR site, they're all listed with the same dimensions. I can see how the stock photo of the navy virgin wool one ($795) looks boxier compared to the older ones ($695) but charcoal one made of the older wool/nylon mix looks just as boxy to me. Perhaps the appearance of a different fit is due to how they laid the coat out for these pictures and not an actual difference in fit. In fact, in the pictures they have where it's worn by a model, they both appear to taper in the midsection at the same place.

Should i get the BR coat? its 25 % off atm, but the version listed on the site is only 80% wool. How would the sizing work for a 5'11 guy?

Hello mates!

Im considering which one of these pea coats should I buy and seems that I am not able to do the decision myself. First one is schott 740 which feels good but there is some shoulder divots problem. Second is Ralph Lauren denim size M and the latest is Ralph Lauren denim size L. The schott is a bit longer which is good thing to me but Im not sure about the divots. Ralph Lauren denim&supply is not as heavy as schott is but I'm a bit worried about the quality of it.
Could you please help me to decide?

I think the Schott looks best, maybe the divots is because it's a little tighter, but that's what I like about it. The other have a portly aspect to them. ;)

Just got this RRL Pea Coat...and wanted to do a check-in with this forum/thread and see if you think it's a good length/fit or not. I'm totally new to pea coats and look forward to trying to rock the look this winter...thx in advance for any advice...

Edit - some background - the SAs told me to size down to small and that a small fit me perfectly while the medium was way too big - so went with the small... I think they were right...but just checking before I take the tags off etc...

IMO, the middle one looks like it fits you the best....

Curious, what is the proper length for a peacoat? Where should it hit re: your thumb, knuckle?

For the sleeve length, about half way between the wrist and the knuckles. Some like them a bit shorter. For the body length, it should just cover the butt, probably not more than an inch or two below.

i think the Schott 740 has kind of a boxy look to it.
RL looks best imho.
Anyone got the Schott 740 or 753 here and care to post a fit? Interested but i think the 740 might look weird and the 753 might be too thin for winter.

In what way is it not really a Peacoat? I think Gloverall are pretty much considered the most authentic maker of pea coats/reefers in the Uk. Very well regarded, great duffel coats too.

Thanks for the info...

...well the sleeve length is right on to your advice with the RRL one I got, but I wouldn't say it "just covers my butt by an inch or two" maybe midway down? Anyway, a few people have told me this one fits well, plus the quality of it seems to be really good... so I guess I will keep it. The other one I was thinking of getting was the Buzz Rickson one, but I liked the fit of this one better...

Here are some pics of it with my sleeves out of the pocket and from the side - showing how it doesn't cover the entire backside (which I don't think I want it that long - but if others think this looks ridiculously short let me know)... (btw, even though it looks black in this picture ...it's dark navy blue)
