I placed my order for those just now, now comes the wait til July for shipping.

I just went for my usual size, never really had a problem with sizing on shoes before.

I don't know if this helps. It was on their Elton last double monks' description, but not on the actual Elton last boots' description.

"Meermin recommend to go with the same size as per our HIRO, OLFE or RON lasts."

If you're still not sure, email customer service but you'll have to be pretty quick, it has only been around 7-8 hours and the MTO is already 50% complete.

Missed out on the Elton. I wasn't sure about sizing so I held off, but the grain/calf combo on Hiro might be in the cards now. I know my Hiro size and it looks pretty nice on a dress boot.

I received a pair of Meermin last week and had to pay over $100 in duties. This was my first big international order, so I'm 1/1. How often have you had to pay duties? Meermin posted the value of the contents right on the box, so I can't imagine customs ever missing this.

I'm sorry, I can't really give you an accurate estimate: I mostly order online from SuitSupply (it's always free shipping and returns; no additional duty fees) or to buy my cigars (where the stores usually play ball and falsify the value and/or content to help us Canadian not get raped - shhht, it's a secret).

So far, I've been hit on one or two big orders, out of how many? I can not tell. Did they ship with UPS/Fedex or the local postal service? If it's the postal service, it's always a gamble - even with full value declared on the box, I can get away with extra fees on 1 out of every 3 to 10 orders, maybe? If it's Fedex/UPS, you're sure to get dinged every time.

Hi guys! I've been thinking about purchasing the suede string loafers with Ron last from Meermin. I've tried to find information from this thread about which size would be the best fit. It seems that some of you suggest ordering the same size as with laced shoes and some suggest sizing down. I typically wear UK7 in mens dress shoes but in some cases I could size down a half or full size if the shoe has wide last.

Here are some lasts/shoes and sizes that I wear: Loake Capital/F UK7, Loake Loafer/F UK6.5, Florsheim Longwings US7.5 with the normal width.

My feet are 249mm in length, left foor 99mm wide and right foot 96mm wide. Meermin suggested ordering UK7 but I'm not sure if UK6.5 would a better, more snug fit. What do you guys think?

X-Post from the Boots thread:

Received my first Meermins today:

400

After a quick (stealthy) try-on, they seem to fit surprisingly well. I went TTS, though this is my first time buying in EU sizes.

You're buying a loafer. I'd go for the 6.5. Loafer's stretch, and you want a more snug fit to begin with.

How does the Hiro last fit compared to Carmina's Rain last? I am a size 8.5D/E on Brannock, and a UK7.5 Rain shoe fits me well, accommodating my slightly wider foot and high instep. The toe box was a little snug initially on my small toe but is now comfortable upon being broken in.

Would it be advised to go the same size in Hiro as Carmina's Rain, or would I be better off sizing up a half size? Specifically, I'm looking at the chukka boots.

Anyone else notice the difference in the rolls in the new Japanese shell? Doesn't seem to crease the same as Carmina and Alden.

I don't believe, at least traditionally, that Carmina and Alden used Japanese shell so could be minor differences. Keep in mind meermin shell in the past was always thirsty, some of the initial worn pics didn't look too good until you gave it a drink of product.

Yeah I know Alden/Carmina usually uses Horween shell. Will hope a little TLC will do it some good. Thanks!
