And yes, I have a viewpoint. But I have been here on this forum expressing and sharing that viewpoint...and the objective evidence for it...for a relatively long time--9,000 posts worth. It has not changed in all that time but neither have I ever started a thread to confront people with my point of view.

It seems to me like my post was confrontational.

My apologies for that, that was not my intention. I was just looking for experience and opinions on the subject.

I did know this forum was biased towards natural materials, I just didn't know it was SO intense.

I think you had a fair question, just when it comes to key areas of classic menswear; such as aesthetics, nostalgia, tradition, et al... the advancements of synthetics matter less. Technology continues to march on, and synthetics will get more and more competitive in the classic menswear market, but just as I like my newfangled medical care, my shiny new computer, I also like styles and things which hearken back to before the Victorian period.

Edit: You may see one of my first posts on this forum was about Frock Coats. Before I came here I was more active on computer technology forums.

Good on you! All is forgiven...

I would add this observation...while some in this discussion would like to paint me as the bogeyman, I am actually one of, if not the, most objective voice on this subject in this discussion/forum...

As I have made clear...for anyone paying attention...I am no gushing naif prostrating myself at the altar of New and Glittering, but neither am I some scowling Luddite wishing to go back in time.

I recognize the advances science has made but also recognize the terrible mess science has made. I am no tree hugger (although some trees may be eminently huggable) but neither am I blind or deaf or willing to shut my mind to such travesties as the Pacific Vortex...and what it says or implies about mindless consumerism, the "factory mentality," and individual responsibility.

In any case here is a link to make everybody happy:

I agree, I don't think Natural materials are going anywhere regardless.
