I own the MacBook ProÂ

and for the most part, it's been great. I feel like I'm not using it to it's full potential though. So I'm here looking to find ways to optimize my rather pricey computer. I discovered the dashboard, and I use that for quick access to weather. I just installed Quicksilver, but I don't see how that is any better than Spotlight.

It's already optimized. Unix, ho! Viva le memory management!

Quicksilver is only useful if you'd have a use for a hotkey version of Automator.

as an app launcher i think quicksilver is probably the best on the market

for example, to launch an app (let's say safari) takes basically three keystrokes - command+esc, S, enter

way better than spotlight

If optimizing means using more than 30% of your CPU then I rec trying some video/music/pic editing on your computer since thats what its built for. If you just plan on using it for internet and email but still want the OSX OS then a hackintoshed Dell Mini9 would have done the trick and saved you about $1300.

Install a bunch of viruses and let them suck up all your excess cpu cycles, storage space, bandwidth, etc. You'll achieve 100% utilization in no time.
