Letting Out Pants... removing old hem/crease line?

I am not sure if my tastes are different or if my pants have shrunk, but they are all just a tad short (no more than 1/4... but when it comes to no break to slight break, that small amount matters).

But I'm worried because there is going to be a crease line when they are let out. I only wash them every month or so (worn once a week) and had my pants for maybe 6 months, so no too many washes, and only iron after washing, that's it.

Is there any hope? Undoing this crease, restoring color on that line, etc... I don't know what to do. I don't want my pants too short. Also don't want an ugly old crease/hem line showing.

Had the same problem. A little bit will always show, but it's really not that big of a deal. Once you let them out, wash them and iron the hem line while they are still wet. It will smooth out most of the old creases. The discoloration will be permanent but not that visible, imo. Or you could always get some cuffs.

How does this play out in the case of wool pants?

Wool pants you can let them out, lengthen them no problems unless they faded or something, and the inside is darker.

Cotton sucks because you can always shorten them or take in the waist, but if you were to let out and lengthen them you see the old crease and the old stitching

It's irritating, but a good workflow when working with an alterations tailor and nailing those increments is to err on the side of looser, longer, etc., then adjust upward/inward if necessary.

The state of my stupidity is such that I have some kind of amnesia, and I feel that the alterations are fine in the shop, then I take them home and wear for a bit only to be dissatisfied, necessitating another trip.
