I´ve been reading some old posts, since this is likely to become my favorite thread in the whole wide world, due to my obsession with leather jackets.
I´ve come across lots of posts raving Rick Owens´ leather jackets. First, i´ll say I´ve never actually tried one, so I´m taking this through the aesthetics side of it. I´ve seen them at luisa via roma and the designs don´t really catch my eye. Maybe i´m too into belts and zipped cuffs and studs and collar straps and side belts and etc. I understand the prices are quite steep because of the fact they are from a high end brand, but I don´t really see the appeal in most of them. Maybe people who´ve tried them and own them have a way different opinion. Are they comfortable? How´s the fit? Is it worth giving up my dream of owning a burberry prorsum one and changing into a RO one??

burberry sucks bro

prorsum sucks? really?

as for RO, I finally got to handle some and the materials are hit and miss. the calf one i tried on was super nice, but some of the lamb ones were not really nice. but i think that RO and Prorsum as just on opposite aesthetic extremes; neither is really better than the other, just depends on what you're going for.

It depends, the recent collection isn´t one of my favorites as well, but the spring/summer 2011 was, for me, the coolest menswear show I have seen. So far i have the runway asymmetric zip sweater (which is layered under the leather jacket in the picture i posted) and the leather sandals (not the gladiator birkenstocks -those are fantastic but also quite expensive). And the jackets and vests there were just the best. From ones with a few details to others with just about every fricking thing you could put on a leather jacket. The thing is they are pretty hard to find, specially at a good price. There´s one I really want on ebay, but it´s like 3 grand, and just out of my budget for the time being.

@ thekunk07 There´s a saying in my country: "there´s nothing written about tastes" , which is probably not true, but well, not the point. It might be **** to you, but not to me, and probably to lots of other people. Same with you. Maybe what you like is **** to a lot of people but you think is the coolest **** ever.

hahahaha, ok, Now I´m understanding a bit more. I´ve seen that you post here quite often, and that the jackets you wear (and therefore like) are of simpler designs, still being cool and all. I like that too. I mean, if i was a wealthy individual, I´d probably have like 20 leather jackets from all sorts of different designers and all sorts of models. But I´m not, so I have the ones I like the most. And those usually have some added flair to them, like the belts, or zipped cuffs and the rest i already mentioned. It doesn´t have to be all in one, but at least a few of those extras are more than welcome.
