Can anyone recommend one at reasonable price and quality? (actually the jacket in the picture probably fits the bill but am I the only one who thinks there's something a bit lame about wearing a "movie special"?)

Thanks!

I have a jhane Barnes leather jacket that's just like that. It was 700 retail and I got it for 150. I'm sure you can find deals like that on ebay

I think it's only lame if you let everyone know it's the MI jacket. No one will notice.

I actually have a Wested Raiders jacket that I'm happy with. For a MTM jacket, the price was good and nobody has ever noticed that it's an Indiana Jones jacket.

FWIW, I like the Dr. Who/Das Boot jacket much better than the MI jacket.

Have you ever considered that people you see wearing leather jackets are those you would not want to emulate? Sort of people that wear striped, billowy shirts un tucked, aka Amjacks.

Details' rant against leather jackets was accurate. You either look like you're trying to hard, or you're wearing a costume.

I disagree. The black leather jacket is a classic. It's not for everyone of course, but I manage to work it into a repertoire that includes a whole lot of other, more conventional stuff. It's a matter of personal style. The comment that the wearers must somehow be "trying to (sic) hard" or "wearing a costume" is simply insulting. What's more of a costume? A trad BB outfit from head to toe, or a cool pair of jeans, a nice, striped sport shirt, and a black leather jacket? Just because some people can't pull it off doesn't make it any less credible. Some people on this site have some serious attitude problems.

martin margiela usually makes at least one really really nice leather jacket each season. they are expensive but are typically very stylish.

Gasp! The Streetwear Forum applauds you (though you might be in the wrong forum for this rant).

Seriously, would you have a photo fo Tom Cruise in this from the movie? I always thought this cut of leather jacket was clownish, but you make me think.

I'm not the original poster (re: Tom Cruise) so I don't have a photo of him in MI. Sorry.

The leather jackets I see people wearing are ususally of horrible quality and cut. Charlie please don't do it to yourself: ...striped shirt with lether jacket..." you'd be looking like one of those clubby-douchy wanna bes. Not good.
The only people who I see wearing leather jackets (aside from bikers)are "brothers" from the Hood, or recent immigrants off the Boat.
