No - Bulgaria (Eastern Europe). Hordes of people with bad taste used to wear Lacoste, in combination with horrible horrible jeans and shoes - it was "the look". Also worn with mullet-type (longer at neck, shorter on top) AND slicked hair. Shudder to think

It's like going to a job interview and when your potential boss asks for your email to contact, you tell him it's one of those "sexyhotcooldude@blaghblagh. com" or something. A total credibility killer. I mean, I'm not saying my screenname is great or anything (I've already berated its lameness on other threads), but come on... Fudgebutt???

it's an internet forum dude.

anyways, of course lacoste is better quality, but my (authentic) polo faded quite miserably over time. now it's in my jammies/gym stuff rotation

If I were to analyze myself, it's also cuz growing up I could only get the solid color polos with self color laurel at TJ Max and I never felt "right" not having a "proper" fred perry with the contrast cuff and collar

I recently passed on a baseball neck polo because it had a self colored logo that was hardly visible and it just didnt look right

at least you admit it...

I like fred perry polos/knits because they are different than your standard polo. that is, pique and a solid color or striped. They have differnt plackets, collars, sometimes you can get the ones that button all the way down, the designs. Its just something different, and not in a bad way.

Twenty five years ago it was a hallmark of faux-modest prepitude to have a small hole on your polo shirt where the alligator was.

The legend goes that Rene Lacoste was promised a crocodile-skin suitcase if he won a match, which is the apparent genesis of the logo.
