javyn, why not go for a more structured KB routine? RKC has the "program minimum" (swings and TGUs) and a "rite of passage" program (cleans & presses).

lol I got some introductory instructions on kettelbell use yesterday, so I thought I'd go through this thread. I came across this, it's pretty cool how manned up and tried it (instead of some people who just sit on their hands and call it bullshit) and how it changed your opinion.

Oh yeah, it changed my opinion after I tried one, big time. I love it, but feel lame b/c I can't start with a 35 lb like everyone else heh

A lot of guys would probably be better off starting with a 12kg bell rather than pridefully starting at 16kg. But it's hard to hurt yourself with either weight at least.

I was taught the basics on a 25lb'er yesterday and I could definitely feel it in my hips/glutes after a bit.

Using a 25 lber here too, and my body has started changing pretty drastically the last few weeks. I'm just doing swings, clean and presses, then pushups and pullups, but hey, it's working. I just need to get back to the gym and start squatting again too.

I started with an 8 kilo and a 12 kilo, even though I was able to lift a lot in barbells, I realized I needed to start small

If your wrist is hurting you then your form is off. You catch the bell with a tight grip. You absorb the shock with your legs and you do a little bounce to stabilize the KB. I do snatches and C/P's with a 32 kilo KB and my wrists are fine. My forearm took a bit of a beating when I first started but now it doesn't even phase me.

yeah, but I probrably weigh twice as much as you.

its amazing with KBs how hard a little step up is. I was doing 100 snatches with 16, then went to 20 and worked up to 80 snatches. then, before reaching 100 I bought a 55 pound, and now I can just do 20 snatches and 60 swings. I want to work up to 100 snatches.

Have you tried the walking kettle bell swing variants? It can be an alternative to buying a heavier weight. The backward walking swings are tough.

Trying to figure out how to incorporate KBs into my training. MWF is my gym time (starting strength novice progression), then Tues Thurs I have kali training consisting of a lot of footwork and pretty low intensity technique drills.

Suggestions?

I like to use my kb as a default - say I miss a days training, I do a kb workout.
