My understanding it that raw denim, means that no washing or anything else has been done.

But is there a way to tell if a pair of jeans is sanforized or unsanforized?

If nothing has been done, then nothing has been done.
If sanforizing has been done then it will be indicated some wear.

next time, it'd be probably be best to ask these questions in the I have a jean....thread. with that said, these are most likely sanforized. i haven't seen any unsanforized denim using 2% lycra. most of the time if a brand is using unsanforized denim, they make sure to state that up front.

fyi, sanforization does not mean that there is some wear or that it's been washed/distressed/etc. sanforization means that it's gone through the sanforization process that minimizes any future shrinking of the fabric. raw denim can be sanforized or unsanforized. just from looking, it'd be hard to tell if 100% a fabric is sanforized or not.
