Looking at a tux at JAB. Quality seems passable. Other option is Joseph Abboud. Thoughts?

Almost all of their offerings are center vented, so be careful.

The signature two-button peak-lapel tux is unvented.

I didn't really like the quality of their tux when I was in the market, I opted to pay a little more and move up in quality as I won't be getting a new tux every couple of years.

If you are only attending 1 or two black tie events a year at most I wont stress buying something that fit well over something that was of the highest quality.

Here's another thing. You not only need a tux; you need a shirt, a bow tie, a cummerbund and/or a waistcoat, braces, and tux-worthy shoes. And a white linen pocket square you don't have one of those. Good-quality accessories can make a cheaper tux look better, just like a pre-tied, too-small bow tie can make a good quality tux look awful.

So if you are starting from scratch, it might be smart to get the JAB or some other acceptable $400 tux and not skimp on the accessories. Then later, if you find you need a better tux, you can upgrade the tux alone.

I a signature tux from them, it is a good quality as is most of their things from there. I got it at a pretty good deal including all my accesories. Of course it's not the best quality but it holds it's own.
