Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a linen suit jacket from JCrew online, since my local store doesn't carry their suiting. I'm 6'2", 200lbs, "athletic" frame, and the few JCrew jackets in large that I've tried on fit me too big.

How do sizes run in the suit jackets? I'm usually a 42R, should I size down to 40R? I won't be able to return it, so it's a dangerous game.

JCrew sizes seem to be all over the place. Sometimes big, sometimes small, sometimes just right.

I have a similar problem. I've found that the Ludlow jacket in MED is too tight on me. But the sized Ludlow (40R here) fits perfectly (most other OTR 40R jackets generally fit me well).

Obviously the LRG is meant to fit a range of sizes, but perhaps you can find the same or similar jacket in a sized version, and then order your true size? I realize you're looking at a sale jacket, so sizing is limited.

Why couldn't you order two and return one? Return post or just take to local store.

Sized jackets are a totally different ball game from S-M-L. Just buy your normal size.

I think for their suit jackets, a 40R has a 18.25" shoulders and goes up by half an inch for each subsequent size. You can also call cust svc and they have all the measurements on hand.

Thanks, all. I did call customer service, and got the garment measurements for both sizes. Good to know that the sized jackets fit true-to-size. There's no return on sale items, so I gotta be careful.
