Alright guys. So, I am planning a trip to Japan in the distant future. Probably a 10-day to 2-week trip. Interested in ordering some shoes.

Can anyone give me the rundown? Interested in bespoke, or MTM - however, I can realistically only squeeze in one fitting, i.e., when I am there. What are my options? I see Yohei Fukuda will do one fitting for bespoke. Leave price out of the consideration for the time being. I am also interested in Marquess. At this juncture, more interested in questions of "process."

don't think you can get one fitting in with most makers in 10 days to 2 weeks.

Please do keep us updated...

Fukuda has mtm and shoes to try for fitting, so that may be a possible option.
Marquess creates the last from measurements, gives a fitting, and would then be able to send the final shoes. Maybe, if you contact him a long time before, he can arrange the fitting faster than he normally does. He's been flexible with me in the past (not that much, but still )

Fittings for bespoke will be six months to a year after the measurements. Final delivery 1 to 2 years + now is the range. RTW the only option I'm afraid for a trip of any length. Clematis and Fukuda have RTW. Yen 80,000 and Yen 240,000 respectively. A visit to Isetan mens and World Footwear Gallery in Jingumae or Ginza would be recommended. MTM a possibility at Fukuda or Seiji McCarthy (World Footwear Gallery), based on their sample model fittings, with delivery by post an option. 3-6 months wait I believe.

Hmm, I think that Fukuda MTM is probably the best option. Although I would love to do bespoke, I understand it was unlikely that would be an option.

Thanks for the quick feedback! Fukuda MTM does look awesome.

Ehh-- just schedule a return trip in a year. No biggie. :)
