Is it possible to take off trouser cuffs?

My trousers have cuffs on them that button up with small indiscreet metal buttons. I got some new bulkier shoes (that require more trouser to cover them up) and simultaneously read that cuff-less trousers make you look taller (is that true?), so I'm considering taking the cuffs off. Is it just as simple as unbuttoning them, taking off the buttons, then pressing the fabric?

I heard that cuffless trousers need to have a slanted cut at the bottom, a slope from the heel up to the front, so maybe that's an inhibitor here. I tried them on with the buttons undone and the fabric bunched up around my shoelaces, so I hope that will solve it?

Yes, but there will be a seam from the hemm that may not come out also a nice trouser shoudl be cuffed so I would just keep it in if I were you.

yes you can take them off. the cuff must be disassembled, the button removed, the buttonhole unraveled stitch by stitch, and the seam closed. the bottom of the leg pressed flat. hopefully the crease will press out. only then can the plain slanted hem be made. it takes time and thats what you pay for.
some cloth must be cut off, save it. its good for repairs, re weaves, and heel guards.

I would imagine he means having a narrow pant opening, so in the back it hits just about the sole, while in the front not fulling covering the laces, and just hitting somewhere near the middle or top near tongue of the laces.
