Is it okay to wear skinny ties with a wide spread collar?

About 2" wide at the widest point.

I actually like the skinny knot w/ very wide spread collars....in fact, the only knot i would make w/ a keaton collar (the most extreme spread

) is a skinny FIH. In terms of skinny ties, yes I'd do it too, in fact the skinnier the tie, the skinnier I can make my knot, which is what I like

I wear 3" ties with spread collars pretty regularly. Maybe it looks bad according to some people, but I really don't give a hoot.

Isn't that the point though? The bigger ties would require a bigger knot and ultimately a bigger and wider collar?

I consider a 3" tie to be a skinny tie.

If you're wearing a 2" wide tie, you are already disregarding the rules anyway. Personally I hate point collars on me, so all my dress shirts that I wear a tie with are spread collar to some degree. When I wear ties I go down as far as 2" wide, and I almost never use anything but a FIH knot.

If I dress for something for which I want to follow the rules, I wear a 3"+ tie, usually 3.25-3.5".

only those who have no intelligence wear spread collars. adding in the poorly knotted ties is just absolutely hideous. too bad you are too stupid to realize it
