Hello. I needed help picking a winter jacket, and am desperately confused on the criteria for a winter jacket or coat. I'm seventeen and need something cheap, functional, and stylish, but not incredibly trendy. Also, if at all possible, please no peacoats.

Any and all help is appreciated.

How cold is your winter?

How about a covert coat...

I dunno... Today, I purchased four Ralph Lauren pea coats at Marshalls for $25/each for a 'coat drive' at work (to be donated to the homeless). Try Marshalls or TJ Maxx if you dont want to spend a lot... A lot of stores will have coats on sale now - its not 'coat selling season' and now they need to start getting rid of them so you should be able to find something reasonably priced.

What is your price range? J. Crew has their Sutherland topcoats on sale right now for ~$225 -- about half off. They're conservative, have covert buttons, and in grey herringbone they go with anything. http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/Mens...9853/99853.jsp
