How to properly size leather gloves?

I was trying to size myself for a pair of leather driving gloves, and I followed a guide from this site: Gloves Size Guide and Chart

I did it the way that site showed with the tape measure around the widest part of my hand. Is that actually the best and most accurate way to measure your hand when sizing for gloves? I'd want to be sure I got the best measurement possible. I did it the way the site showed and consistently got 7.5, which I assume would be correct. Just curious if this is the most accurate way or if there are better ways of doing a measurement for this.

Also, how is the company Gaspar Gloves in terms of quality and service for their gloves? Looking around they look like a legit company with some pretty solid quality gloves, but I wanted to be sure. Anyone have any experience with them?

You’re measuring the right way, but of course any sizing system that comes down to a single alpha size or a single number has the intrinsic flaw that it is designed to work for most people but can’t work for all people. In particular, glove size does not account for finger length/width so if you’re an outlier it may be hard to get a perfect fit. Plus there is some variation among manufacturers and likely among individual gloves in a batch. Always best to try on in person but of course not always possible. If between sizes I lean towards a slightly snug initial fit as most glove leathers will stretch a bit with use.
