Buy nothing but bespoke clothes and shoes, nice jewelry, expensive cars. Roll with an entourage whereever I go. Get a harem going.

Buy the Texans and enough good players to turn them into Super Bowl champs (I know SB thing will never happen with the Texans but it's nice to dream).

You sure $40B is enough to turn around the Texans?

Sounds like Hans Zimmer also ripped it off for the "Driving Miss Daisy" music:

I would buy an island and kidnap SF members to make them fight to the death there.

I think Brewster's Million's may be an apt parable. In some ways, having this much money sounds like a curse. If you never want anything, how can you appreciate anything you have?

I mean, if you have a box of Rolexes that you give away on a whim to whoever, do you derive any pleasure from owning a Rolex?

Reminds me a bit of Twilight Zone episode where this petty criminal dies and goes to heaven. He gets everything he wants, every time he bowls it's a strike, every pool shot goes in. By the end of the episode, he realizes that he's not in heaven at all. He's in... (wait for it)... hell.

Having said all that, I wouldn't mind trying it for a while.

I had something very pressing to work on the other day, so instead I read the entire article.

I think the highlight, for me anyways is this:

According to Fortune, when Hakeem wanted to learn football, Jefri imported N.F.L. stars Joe Montana and Herschel Walker to Brunei, at a cost of seven figures each, to teach him the game. Hakeem and his friends showed up in brand-new uniforms, the gargantuan prince weighing 300 pounds, trailed by a valet and guarded by a state security force. Hakeem was not able to catch the ball, so a teammate would hand it to him, and he would then shuffle down the field for an easy touchdown, because no one was allowed to tackle a prince. When Hakeem turned 18, his father gave him $1 billion as a birthday present, according to one of Zaman's affidavits. Bahar, for his 16th birthday, received $400 million

Yet they are worshiped and have (literally) more money then God. If there is a case for us to take over oil rich countries this is it. A $40 billion investment in that shithole would've made it the best place in the world.

Umad? Seriously why do you care? Some people are born with money. Some people are born with looks. Some people are born with incredible intelligence. What do you want them to do? Distribute it to the world and give it to you? I bet you want the rich in this country to be taxed at 70% as well to feed the poor.

Posts like this reek of jealousy.

The circumstances are much different in this case. The point here is that the sultan put his brother in charge of the sovereign wealth fund (basically the country's savings account) who then used it to enrich himself and embezzle.

The brother did what 95% of people would do if they were put in his position.

That doesn't make it right and it certainly doesn't provide justification for people to NOT be mad.

I understand that. My point is he still would have been filthy rich if he didnt embezzle anything, and that seems to be why the other posters are so mad.
