One of the the reasons I love creative jobs is the choice. Somedays I dress up, other days I'm a complete slob. "Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes".

Technology and construction. Owning the place helps since the dress code is whatever I'm wearing.

i would not say that dressing casual or in jeans means you are a slob.

ive seen (and am one) people who wear jeans and casual outfits splendidly and in style while others who wear business wear (dress shirts, shoes, pants, tie) in a complete mismatched, unfitted, sloppy, half-tried way.

If I went through proper appeals, I could probably show up to work naked.

Jeans are permitted by our dress code, company-wide.

BUT

In general wearing jeans in my department is looked down upon. The higher ups WILL make comments if you show up in jeans. So I generally don't wear denim unless the weather calls for it (e.g. I have to slog my way through the snow in jeans and boots to get to the office).

Yes - I work as a director in the entertainment/e-commerce industry, so I can pretty much wear whatever I want. I try to keep it on the less-casual side of things, which puts me at least a step above most of my peers and all of my employees.

As a bartender, yes. In fact, I don't think I ever saw anyone in anything but jeans.

I can wear pretty much anything I want to work, so yes, I wear jeans quite frequently. As does my boss, and plenty of other people in our department. The department being Structural Biology at one of the city universities.
