They probably got him for keyword spamming. Doesn't say anything about legitimacy since everyone does it. But yea, be sure from now on that when you see an email from ebay to check it out on ebay.com first. Just use those emails as notices to go check yourself. Lots of phishing scams out there lately. If you signed in through one of those sketchy emails you probably want to change your password.
