I manage a retail store and spend much of the day at my desk in front of the computer. Unless there are customers my employees can't help or other fires that need to be put out I have nothing but time. What is it that allows the rest of you all to post with so much voracity. I have always wondered about this.

I'm an in-house market research analyst in a small department (4 people). I would say 80% of my job entails sitting and thinking about a project and planning things out in my head, only 20% is used for actual work-work. Needless to say, I have a tendency to procrastinate, but I also feel like SF gives me an opportunity to step away from a project and return to things with a clear head. Either that, or my rationalization has begun to fool myself, which is entirely possible.

I have had my posting off-shored and am thus able to afford a much higher volume.

90% of my workday is spent monitoring systems that aren't doing anything 90% of the time.
