How does one work 50+ hours a week?

You get used to it. Get an interesting job that you like and it won't be so bad.

P.S. I was going to say something like "quit being a ***** and suck it up", but I remembered that I had the same thoughts as you back when I was in college.

How do I work long hours? My field requires it on occasion, and I am compensated for the overtime hours worked. If I found it unacceptable I would change careers or employers.

I wish I recalled my records, I think the highest I ever heard was 426 hours billed in a month (not by me). The most I ever got was 125 in a week. I found I was happiest and most productive around 60 billable a week. A few weeks of 90 plus is like being dead.

I'm afraid I am still looking for the right balance, I'm thinking of jumping back on the high speed treadmill and have started to look for a new job
