How a Waistband Alteration Should Look Like

Hello Gents,

I had the waist on a pair of pants taken in by about three inches. The pictures attached show the result.
I do not know how the alteration should look like so naturally I scoured the web for images and videos so I could compare them to mine and so judge the competency of the tailor. Some sources said the waistband should be taken in more at the top than the bottom, creating an angle, while others said it ought to be taken in uniformly.

Please tell me how the alteration should look.

If this is a real post and not a joke, it’s not possible to take in 3” and it look “good”. Notice the pockets are almost touching.

Rest assure this is genuine. I can't fathom how anyone can get a kick from this.
Since my waist is very small and I like wider cut trousers, my only choice is to buy pants with a 30 inch waist and have them taken in. I read that taking in 2 or more inches would upset the balance but this tailor told me it would be fine.
I guess I will find another. Do you suggest I ask them to take in the side seams too?
