This is a rare find, a Hickey single-breasted, bead-striped suit from 2009, the last F/W collection Aaron Levine designed for them.
You might see Hickey product up on Gilt from time to time, but those items don't come close to the quality of this particular line, which retailed for $1200. (I know, having purchased and worn both.) I also own a Brooks Brothers Fitzgerald suit, and the Hickey is nicer.
Made in Rochester, NY at the same factory as Hickey Freeman, this is a quality garment that features plenty of small details like some nice stitching on the collar and horn buttons with the Hickey logo. The charcoal wool fabric has a very soft hand and is comfortable most of the year. This suit just feels right when you wear it.
The fit of the jacket is fairly modern, with a nicely roped shoulder, dual vents and minimal waist suppression. It features three exterior besom pockets, three interior pockets and non-functional sleeve buttons. Fully lined. Half-canvassed. The pants are a flat front, modern fit with three-point closure.
You just can't find this type of Hickey suit anymore. I'm sad to part with it, but I lost weight. Details as follows:
Jacket
40R
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 18.25 inches
Armpit to armpit: 20 inches
Waist: 18.75 inches
Length: 29.75 inches
Sleeve exterior (shoulder seam to middle of cuff) shoulder to cuff: 24.625 inches (2.25 extra)
Trousers
Half waist: 16.25 inches
Front rise: 10 inches
Back rise: 17 inches
Inseam: 33 inches (2 inches extra)
Half thigh: 13.25 inches
Half knee: 9.75 inches
Exterior leg: 41.5 inches
Leg opening: 8.375 inches
