from reading multiple forum discussions on this topic, i don't think there's a general consensus. from personal experience, they didn't shrink much at all. maybe 1/2 an inch, if that. i didn't measure the inseam before or after wash, but i haven't been able to notice any difference myself.

if you want to hem them before washing, allow an extra inch or so. i'd say you will be fine if you do that.

I machine-washed mine on hot, and if they shrank, I barely noticed it. Granted, I like it when they stack up at the bottom, so it may have been less noticeable, but I honestly think mine didn't shrink much at all.

I don't know if APC uses that exact process, but the denim has been treated to minmize shrinkage, yes. Still, I've found that mine shrink about 1/2 to 1" (didn't really measure) if you don't stretch them out after a wash. Also be aware that you should hem them a little longer anyway - APC New Standards just look better with a little rucking at the bottom, especially if you are wearing them slim.

I think mine shrank maybe 1". I stretched them after washing, always wash cold, drip dry. I decided instead of hemming them to cut the outseam about 1" and reinforce it there so they fall better on my shoes/boots. I wear them to ride my motorbike so I like them long - that way they don't get hitched up on my boots/shoes.

My rescue stretches out to their size before the wash after a few hours of wear, and I did not notice any shrinkage in length.
