Why are you even considering the Mechaquartz? Blegh. On the other hand, the classic 3706 is a very pretty watch. I've wanted one for a long time. The 3717 is an okay update, but the design is showier and less authentic. Greg is right about the Spitfire: stay away from it!

The 5001 suggested by others is nice (it's what I wear), but it's also more expensive than what the OP is looking at.

I believe the 3717 has a slightly larger 42mm case compared to 40mm for the 3706.

Another point that often isn't considered is the size. As much as I'd have loved the 5001 it's really big, so people should settle for something that is beautiful when they wear it, not only when they look at it lying on the table. I've settled for the 3714 therefore.

So for gods sake, go try it on before you buy it.
