Well, 5EPs are very color fast. The most colorfast jeans I've ever worn, anyway. And they don't shrink all at once after a wash. I've washed one pair about 5 times over the last 9 months or so, and they seem to shrink just a little each time, so I wouldn't worry about the fading moving too much. As I said, the denim is sanforized, after all, and not STF.

sorry for the newb question but there have been too many posts to weed through. Can i get a quick answer to this question

Straight, Zip, One wash- and inch or two long. Wash or soak before hemming? The leaving one extra inch before doing anything has been too risky for me in the past for other jeans...

thanks

saturate in cold water for like 5 minutes, dry. I personally do it in a tumble dryer because as fok said, theyre EXTREMELY colorfast and the laughable abrasion in the dryer will do nothing.

I only recommend cold water in an effort to maintain the starch. Hot water removes the rigidness faster.

EDIT: This is what I get for skimming. It's one wash, it's not really going to shrink....

Ha ha - well I cut both the red threads and that leather patch that was holding the threads - hehe.

Too funny - I did keep the leather as a souvenir, but just tossed the red thread.

I don't know how fading occurs in these jeans, because mine don't even show a hint of colour loss or creasing (LDB-OW). That's a good thing - these are very dressy jeans - great for blazer wear with my new RM Williams kangaroos. Okay i'm going off-topic here...

I'm interested in buying a pair of the LDB Rigids.

I have the resins in a 32x32 and after 2 washes, they're fitting perfectly at the waist, maybe even a little loose. Plus, I might be losing some weight.

Do the rigid's run a little smaller? I know they will shrink after wash, but if I don't plan to soak, how will they stretch out of the box? Should I size down to a 31? I've never taken a 31 in any pair before.

His answer is pretty much spot on, size down at least one and probably 2 sizes from LDB resin to LDB rigid.

Sizing down one is a good bet. I have the LDB and they run big. I have a 30 and they wear like a 31 even after washing (cold wash, hang dry).

5EP RIGID in LDB-RD & SDZ-RD run + 1" bigger in length ( inseam ) and waist. It you compare to ONE WASH you can know about how much your RIGID jeans will shrink if you wash. If you are not washing, size down.
