You don't have to do that if you do the initial move correctly in the first place. He just starts the knot wrong by not crossing left over right for the initial overhand part, so he makes up for it with the goofy backwards wrap and loop part. Change my life? Psssh. I just changed it back to normal.

That one is cool but too difficult to learn whereas the method in the first video is a minor adjustment and quite easy to get used to with no practice.
