This story was reported awhile back and glad to hear he's HIV free for years and cured of the disease. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of HIV/AIDS.

yeah thats true-i remember from an immuno class i took. a gene mutation in CCR5 surface receptor protein prevents HIV from attaching to healthy macrophages or something. too bad most sub sahara population won't fall in that 1%

Does it make him immune? What about the other strain of HIV? I seem to remember reading there are signs of a third strain?

HIV if caught early (and if the carrier is on medication) is seen as a chronic disease.

Hep C would take you out before HIV>AIDS would.

That and it's not really something that can easily cure all (or most) people at this point given the dangers invovled.
