I've always liked grosgrain watch bands (probably because they are called out in my personal style guide The Official Preppy Handbook. While checking out at BB a few months ago I decided to pick one up. Not having a watch that I felt like would be a good fit for the band, I found this Bulova online that I thought worked well. White face, cold case, roman numerals. Very thin and understated. And I got a good deal on it so I was happy.
I've been wearing it with this band occasionally for the last month or so and have received numerous of compliments on it. I want to start expanding my collection, but I come to you with to questions.
Number one, should I really work to get a slightly larger band? It looks like the band I currently have is 16mm whereas the watch can accommodate maybe an 18mm band. As it stands right now it slightly shows the watch pin. Is this tacky?
Two, as you can see in the smaller picture, the grommets and buckle on this watch are silver versus the gold case. Looking online pretty much every grosgrain band I can find has silver hardware. Is this a sartorial no-no, or just something one has to live with.
Appreciate any input.
