Got a Seiko - it's "ok"

I got this Seiko Chronograph to have another watch to bang around in without having to worry about scraping it up.

It's alright, nothing special. It didn't work so I had to send it in for repair, but Seiko fixed it up, and now it's fine. The face itself is a decent size but the links from the bracelet on either side are stiff and do not bend, thus the watch actually becomes too big for my wrist.

All in all, I suppose it's an ok buy for a few hundred bucks, but I much prefer my Tag Heuers.

You need to get into the vintage Seiko automatic column wheel chronographs or if vintage is not your thing, get into the higher end japan-only Seiko automatics, in a totally different world from Tag.

Yeah, this is certainly one of their lower end watches. I'll definitely wear it along with a couple of Tags so that my nicer watches don't get so beaten up. But I don't think I'd buy it again.

Seiko seems to enjoy a resurgence recently, which is good! I happen to like the Orange Monster

Seiko has some really great old watches and most of their good ones you can't get in the states. Their Seiko 5 Superior line sports Sapphire crystals, auto movement, solid links, etc. There is also a Seiko bullhead that is hard to find and well regarded. They definitely make some of the best bang for buck watches out there.

That in gold would be ridiculously priced as it is about $5,000 in steel.

Yeah, I know, "5K for a Seiko!!", trust me, it's worth it.

About $125-150 shipped on ebay and if you have a Seiko outlet store nearby (woodbury commons in NY) you can get it for about $179 during one of their sales.
