Well, pecans have been expensive for some time now. A few years ago the WSJ examined why this was so. Among other conclusions (or perhaps THE conclusion: memory fails) was sudden & strong demand in China for pecans. But all nuts have gotten expensive. The $5.49 bag of store-branded cashews I buy has shrunk from 12 ounces to 9 ounces - a stealth 33% price hike.
