Hello Gents,

Year-long lurker, first time poster here. After a wedding I went to this past weekend (wearing one of my father's old suits), I realize I really need to get my own. Bad.

Without bogging you guys down with a wall of text, I'd like my first suit to be a damn good one. And, to my sartorially-neophytic mind, bespoke or MTM is definitely the way to go, rather than buying OTR and finding a tailor to alter it.

If you guys can recommend me something good in NYC, I will follow up and buy a suit, along with providing [ample] pics of the process for your troubles. Not looking for anything outrageous--just a two-button, navy suit in a "good" fabric. Again, the key is good fit, so if any recommendations can veer in the direction of someone that will take good care of a newbie like me, that would be cool.

Cheers!

I made this topic after reading through a similar thread from 2007; I'm sure there are many more, but I figured it was about time to introduce myself so why not piggy-back it with the most pressing question I have?

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
