I've had occasion to inquire into refurbishng of Edward Green shoes at the EG factory, and thought I'd pass along what I learned to other interested forumers.
Edward Green offer a refurbishment program something like that at Crockett & Jones and Allen-Edmonds. However, the shoes can be relasted on a narrower last if desired (my situation). Basically, the soles and heels are removed, the uppers are relasted on the same-as-original or narrower last, and the uppers are repaired if necessary, and fully cleaned, restored, and refinished. In response to my question about this, they can evidently change the color if desired, although my question was specific and referred to changing to a slightly darker color. The soles and heels are replaced, and the shoes are finished and polished. It seems as though you'd get pretty close to a new pair of shoes. Cost is 125 GBP ex VAT (or about $245 US currently), and the turnaround time is 7-8 weeks.
Something to keep in mind, perhaps, the next time you see a pair of used EGs at a fabulous price on eBay!
