I wonder if it will cost another 170 to remove the zippered pocket

Still, good buy.

I'm not totally convinced by the zippered chest pocket, but it looks like a pretty decent & versatile colour. And I'm sure the quality is wonderful! Congratulations on the deal, too.

^ Not bad. I just got my first Oxxford suit today at Off 5th. I got it for $813 after the discounts and signing up for the Saks card. I saved a **** load. Pics soon to come!

I doubt that Macy's sells Brioni.

It's a good jacket and I can see how somebody interested in clothing (us forumites) may find it useful. To the rest of the public it is not desirable because of the three button stance, the zipper on the breast pocket, and the orange color. This mainly explains why it's such a bargain to pick up, I think.

Sure, its a great price, but all of the things you mention just make it an unattractive, bizarre jacket. If it weren't Brioni, would any of us give it a second look? Would the OP have even considered it if BRIONI weren't written on the tag? I'm curious... It seems like it falls into something for which this forum is notorious... it was 90% off, it's Brioni, so it's automatically a "good buy." Well, is it really? It's an odd, rather unattractive jacket that will be hard to wear in most settings. If I posted that and said it was Jil Sander or Prada or Men's Warehouse instead of Brioni, I doubt people would say, "WOW! Great find." They'd say, "what an odd, unattractive, hard to wear jacket you bought."

Of course, and if it were Jil Sander you would have responded - "yes, that's the point."

No, Socal would have responded that. I buy Jil Sander when Jil Sander makes nice items that I think are worth my purchase. I haven't liked the Raf Simons collections very much and so I haven't bought anything in several seasons. I don't buy clothes just to encourage the designers or "support" them in their endeavors. I don't care whose name was on that jacket or how low the price... I wouldn't have bought it and I fail to see, aside from the fact that it was "cheap," what there is to get excited about it.

Exactly what I was trying to say, but trying to sound more smart.

That would be Socal's response too.

I've been receiving two emails a week from Filene's since Black Friday. I don't particularly understand why they are hurting. You would expect that in a bad economy, more people would go to this sort of store to save money. I would do my part to spend more money there, but its hard to find anything beyond Lauren by Ralph Lauren in the suits area.

May be not Brioni but similar jackets are their main staple.
