This might be a relevant topic as SS '09 approaches. I've seen a few WAYWT posts (namely Phat Guido's) with sock-less dress shoes. Thoughts on the look? What pant/shoe combinations work best? I haven't been able to pull it off.

I like the look but it's too hard on my shoes...

Colourful chinos rolled up a tiny bit from the ankle I think works well. Either that or white or cream.

I'd only do it with no-show socks. Sockless is hard on the shoes, and can be a bit sticky in summer heat.

I don't wear dress shoes without socks specially in the Summer. I achieve the look of not wearing a pair of socks by wearing loafer socks, and I usually wear them with loafers. I wear them with my denims, corduroys and chinos.

I like it! Cant wait for the weather to get warmer! It should be done with a narrow pant leg (not skin tight though!).

The English singer George Michael (formerly of WHAM) was able to pull this off back in 1985. I see no reason to revive that entire look...which included Members Only Jackets and the horrible Miami Vice look

I used to do it with my JM WESTON loafers 20 years ago...
Looks good with the suede ones...
It was pure snobery to prove to others that we were not bothred about wearing them with any care in the world..

Unless your Don Johnson and it's 1984 then you have no bisnuess wearing any non sandal shoe without socks.

Absolutely, even a wider trouser leg in general shouldn't be too short, definitely looks like your avoiding the flood but as far as socks (or lack thereof) are concerned, make sure you have your loafer socks and your good to go for the next 4-5 months, sometimes even into October.
