Dress Shoes Without Socks

This might be a relevant topic as SS '09 approaches. I've seen a few WAYWT posts (namely Phat Guido's) with sock-less dress shoes. Thoughts on the look? What pant/shoe combinations work best? I haven't been able to pull it off.


Going sockless with dress shoes only works with certain fabrics: seersucker, madras and loud summer checks are optimal. Dress shoes with plain suit fabrics just look plain odd without socks.

Don't understand if the problem is only about the look or it is because of high temperature. In first case of course it is always more elegant to wear socks, in the second case I don't think a good 100% cotton fine sock can make your feet warmer..
