Double-bottom/canoe-front boat shoes in the summer?

Frankly, for boat shoes I can't stray from Sperry. I'm not a huge fan of the ones you posted because they don't really look like boat shoes IMO.

Quoddy, Alden, Timberland, and Sebago all seem better than Sperry to me. But the issue is really that of the double bottom, i.e. the extra layer of leather between the sole and the upper -- is it too much for a summer shoe?

I have a similar dark brown pair from Alden that I wear year round. In the tan color especially, I think they'd be fine for summer.
