Does anyone know which Italian designer designed Italy's World War II uniforms?

Are they still in existence? Does anyone know if any of the premier Italian designers (Armani, Canali, et. al.) designed Italy's uniforms back in the day?

No idea, but I googled up an old propangda video on Youtube about the Italian uniforms. You can even see the pattern drafted onto, and then cut from, bolts of cloth in a factory. I don't speak Italian, so can't say for certain whether any designer/firm is mentioned but it doesn't sound like it:

I just thought he was a troll. Any knowledge of the "designer" movement would tell you that it is a pretty new movement (just google the brands you are thinking about...- and do not get confused if Zegna already existed, it was just a mill).

In any case, the video refers to ministerial controlled company in charge of producing those uniforms. It was nice to see those Necchi sewing machines, that can still be found in some shirtmaking operations.

I think he is searching for a Hugo Boss analogue. There has been some coverage in the press over here about a number of German firms (which are still in operation) and their support of the Nazi Party at the time.

Then it was not the case in Italy. It was called "Opificio Militare", a military controlled organization, and there were several in the major italian cities. The central one still exist in Rome and is responsible for the designs of current uniforms as well as authorise and certified industrial producers and tailors that offer made to measure.

Armani was six years old when Italy joined World War 2

The uniforms were redesigned in ~1933 by a committee headed by General Baistrocchi.
Most famous/known is the army,s open collar jacket, replacing the WW 1-style standup collar.
