I had a look at some of the new RLPL styles when in Tokyo recently. They had a couple of pairs of G&G-made models for about $1000, and some Italian-made models for quite outrageous prices - about $1200 to $1600.
The Italian-made shoes were, by and large, very nice indeed but I was surprised at the prices. Then again, Japanese pricing can be strange - fantastic suits are often very cheap, but shoes made in the UK, US or Europe are often ridiculously expensive.
One G&G model particularly impressed me - a black captoe balmoral with some punch detailing along the edge of the captoe. I don't normally get too excited by black shoes, but the finish on these shoes was absolutely superb. The depth of the finish on the shoes was amazing - I felt as though I was gazing down into a lightly moonlit ocean at night. The styling was also very attractive.
For anyone who lives in Japan and who wants a pair of RLPL Grants in either brown (chestnut?) or black, they have limited sizes up to UK9.5 for either 30 or 50% off (can't remember which) at the RL "mansion" in Harajuku at present.
