i am planning to purchase my first dinkelacker from Germany, but I need to confirm the sizing first.

I wear a 44 in Vass U , and I have been told by the online store that I should take a 43 in Dinkelacker , but they have gotten my size wrong in the past before. as Vass U 43 is officially their size 10 D. So Dinkelacker if it sizes true, I should size down to 42 since I think the dealer is trying to compensate for my up in size for U last but I cannot seem to communicate this complicated issue correctly with him via email.

Anyone with experience with dinkelacker, able to advise what to wear ?
I wear 44 in U last, 10-10.5 in AE, 9.5 E UK in John Lobb. 10 D in santoni classic, 9.5 D in fam.

thanks.

here is the model i am getting "Leisten Buda" in shell cordovan shown below

Is this where something like Dr. Martens gets their inspiration from?

I'm being serious, I like them a lot. But the resemblance is odd

I have to agree with EL here. They are the exact opposite from Santoni or Lobb. I would never wear these with a suit, to a wedding, to work, etc. Maybe in the country, on a rainy day, or with jeans, but even then, I think you could find something nicer for the price.

I like them. Of course they are chunky, obviously not for a wedding or court but use them with a Harris tweed jacket and a pair of cavalry twill trousers on a cold day, that would be great. They are not so different from Vass Budapest on the Budapest last. It is really a piece of classic Central European shoe style.

I would prefer the Vass anyhow. Hmm fligth tickets to Budapest are cheap from here

Don't let the naysayers get you down Brian. I think this Budapester style brogue looks great, but it's def an aquired taste. I know I didn't like them at first but it grew on me to the point I was obsessed with having a pair and I decided to get one of these from Vass (I should be taking delivery any week now) rather than the typical U-last that everyone goes gaga over.

The big toebox and chunkier overall look is what I like about it...Tarmac mentioned them being like Doc Martens, and perhaps that is what attracts me to these, since I still wear my cherry red DM 1460 boots regularly.

+1

But to go whole hog, you really need a triple sole

You may need a license for these in California.

For the record I love gunboat shoes and I would get these if they were readily available
