Any preference on the brand?
For me they are a wear item, so I don't stress too much about brand... any name brand will do. For looks, I admit I like the Cats' Paw, but really how often do we look at the bottom of our boots? I would ask the cobbler for his recommendation based on your personal priority among the lines he carries... do you want traction, longevity, a soft strike, etc. or some combination of the above.

Anything more than a simple heel cap and it goes back to Whites.

Well normally I'd go for cobbler preference or whatever, but I'm likely to have this done in Japan so there might be a language barrier to deal with. Just pointing to a particular heel cap in a drawer then pointing out to the worn out ones on my boots might be better than relying on Google translate or something.

I have similar creasing although not as bad on the 55 last. I wish I had known the toes were this soft as ii would have chosen clastic or gone with toe caps.
Interesting. I wonder if it's random, depends upon leather, the last, or particular builder? I have a NW lasted black dress with soft toe that hasn't budged.

@hoppy_IPA - thought you'd like to see how venetian shoe cream worked out on my RW hawthorne muleskinner oxfords. Definitely a shade darker now, but I would not hesitate to do this again. Gave the surface a light shine and really smoothed out the nap. They feel great to the touch. Fairly confident that this is how I'll be treating my waxed Whites when they arrive
(hopefully in a week or so)

Yes, I cut the tongue down myself when I got them. Worked a treat to immediately relieve the ankle pain from where the big wad of leather was hitting me. It’s been so long I sometimes forget they didn’t come this way.
Ah nice, honestly couldn't tell it was a "hack-job" haha.

I feel there aren't enough comparisons on the internet between BHs, MP and Iron Rangers.

Couple of Main Street pics. The french calf models like the black pic are going to come in black sole thread and black stain and brown thread and brown stain for the brown french calf. More formal. View attachment 1210673 View attachment 1210675

Is it my imagination or do those heels look lowered? Or lower than other whites boots heels / MP heals?

So I've probably missed all the discussion about this...what are people's thoughts about the new White's website and all the different models listed there? I'm especially interested in the 350 models. These are essentially Bounty Hunters, but the ad copy on these makes it sound like they're far older models. I wonder if White's was selling a lot of these in ages past and then Baker's took over the concept as the BH, and now White's is trying to get back in on the popularity on the pattern/last combo?

I like that the derby and oxford now seem to be readily available instead of being things you have to ask for special. Also lots of new workboot options, including more choices in more affordable stitchdown and GYW options.

Which brings me to a question...what's the 610 last? Is that the same as the NW last?

Probably won't be wearing my White's much for about 6 months starting a month from this Monday. Be wearing these, with lots of polishing. After that, I can wear my White's in my off time. Won't have much off time for a while.

Don't get caught up in terminology. A person has been able to order a 6" #55 last boot for a long time 350=6", 375= 8", 400= 10"..

It "looks" as if White's has ditched the "Hathorn" and "Hathorn Explorer" brand names, and just started calling those lines "White's". The "Hathorn Hi-Line" brand, which was "Buffalo Boot" before that, disappeared a couple of years ago.
